Optimizing Stewardship in a Challenging Environment
Please join over 500 environmental decision-makers from all sectors and from across the Commonwealth to learn the latest about environmental challenges and solutions and to build partnerships to implement solutions to these challenges. For more information, please visit the Symposium website.
Pre- Symposium Workshops
Three 5-hour workshops are offered on Tuesday, 6 April. Earn Continuing Education Units (CEU's) through attending a workshop and symposium breakout sessions. Sessions include: Making Virginia a "Green Jobs Zone", James River: Resources Management Framework and Future Challenges, and Preserving Virginia's Battlefields.
Registration
Registration is available online
and earlybird registration ends on January 31. Registration is: $180 per person for Government employees, $240 for private sector, $90 for academic/non-profit, and $20 for students.
Agenda
The preliminary agenda includes Seven tracks featuring four sessions each:
1. Regulatory updates - air, water, stormwater, waste;
2. Restoring the Chesapeake Bay;
3. Strategic land conservation;
4. Energy development;
5. Viable and sustainable farms and forests;
6. Adapting to Climate Change; and
7. (Re-) Development.
Also meet the Governor of Virginia's environmental team and hear their goals and plans for the environment. Keynote speakers include:
Dennis Treacy, Vice President, Environmental and Corporate Affairs, Smithfield Foods, Inc.
James Gustave "Gus" Speth, author, Bridge at the Edge of the World: Capitalism, the Environment, and Crossing from Crisis to Sustainability. Co-founder of the World Resources Institute and the National Resources Defense Council.
