About: The Pledge

PEC and their Partners request that all farmer partners of the Buy Fresh, Buy Local Campaign endorse the following commitment to sustainable production practices when they join the campaign:

I pledge to use my knowledge, skill, and land to grow products that are healthy and delicious, support biological diversity, and to sell them using distribution or preservation practices that minimize carbon emissions and conserve their taste and quality.

With my agricultural and/or production practices, I pledge to minimize negative impacts to human health and the environment, reduce synthetic pesticide use and toxicity, protect water and soil resources and conserve wildlife habitat.

I pledge to respect every worker involved in the creation of my product and compensate them fairly for their labors to the best of my ability, and work to provide humane conditions for the animals I raise.
